Fashionable and excellent quality, these boots repel melted snow and water much better than hiking boots. The tread is not deep, making it easier to remove mud, etc., as opposed to the very aggressive tread pattern of hiking boots. Another reason I picked this boot is the color and design, which could almost pass as a dress shoe if I need to wear them to work on a cold, snowy, or very wet day.
